In November 2024, the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku highlighted the efforts of young climate advocates, including Wang Dan, who used her biological sciences background to foster biodiversity awareness. Through initiatives like ICSO’s “All Things Green,” she engaged in plant conservation, raising public consciousness about ecological issues while inspiring youth participation in sustainability efforts.

The “Heart of Azure” Coral Conservation Project, led by ICSO volunteers, addresses the urgent need to protect coral reefs devastated by climate change. Zhang Wan’er, an ICSO volunteer, shares her firsthand experience of coral bleaching, engages in coral planting and reef surveys, and promotes marine awareness through campaigns, embodying collective responsibility for ocean conservation.

In an era of urbanization, protecting rare plants has become crucial. Ren Wei, a volunteer with ICSO’s “In the Mood for Green” project, uses his photography skills to raise awareness about endangered flora in the UK. His efforts highlight ecological threats and inspire community action for conservation, making him a role model for nature protection.

The ICSO “Heart of the Blue” project aims to protect marine life amidst rising ocean pollution. Volunteer Jiang Shan, motivated by her personal encounter with an injured turtle, actively participates in rescue operations and coastal cleanups, dedicating over 300 hours to raise awareness and promote marine conservation through educational initiatives.

ICSO Wang Naixin, a Finance and Economics student at the University of Cambridge, has actively participated in marine conservation through the ICSO’s Blue Heart initiative, organizing cleanups and raising awareness about ocean pollution. Her efforts mobilized over 200 volunteers and emphasized the importance of collective action in protecting our oceans, earning her the title of “Ocean Conservation Pioneer.”

Ran Min, a volunteer with ICSO UK, passionately engaged in the “Affection for Spring” project focused on endangered plant conservation. She dedicated over 400 hours to research, data collection, and public awareness, resulting in impactful articles and contributions to fieldwork. Her efforts earned her recognition and strengthened her commitment to ecological protection.

Ran Min, a volunteer with ICSO UK Division, dedicated over 400 hours to the “Love of All Things Spring” project, focusing on plant conservation. She edited articles and engaged in sample collection, facing challenges that deepened her commitment to environmental protection. Her efforts earned her several awards, including the Outstanding Environmental Contribution Award.

Gao Xiang, a dedicated ICSO volunteer from the National University of Singapore, has made significant contributions to environmental protection through initiatives like the “Affection for All Green” project. His efforts in educating students about tree conservation, actively participating in tree planting, and promoting environmental awareness in the community earned him the “Environmental Protection Pioneer” award.

Ningran Yu, an ICSO outstanding volunteer, led a campaign promoting low-carbon living by researching sustainable practices and creating engaging content. She showcased real-life applications of eco-friendly habits through videos, promoting public engagement. Ningran’s dedication emphasized that small, collective actions can significantly contribute to a greener future, inspiring widespread commitment to sustainability.
