Music is an artistic language that touches the heart. However, in China’s impoverished mountainous regions, children are often denied access to music education, and with limited resources and opportunities, their dreams of music are often dimmed. But now, there is a light that shines in these mountainous areas, and that is the “Music for Dreams” public welfare program.
01 Background
When we go deep into the poor mountainous areas, we personally feel the children’s desire for music. There is often a lack of music education resources in these areas, and children have little opportunity to play musical instruments or learn about music. Even if some schools offer music courses, the quality of teaching cannot be guaranteed due to the lack of musical instruments and music teaching materials. It is against this background that the ICSO “Music for Dreams” program was born, aiming to create opportunities for these children to realize their musical dreams.
02 Program Content
The “Music for Dreams” program focuses on the development of humanities and social sciences in impoverished areas, with a focus on music classes, improving music teaching aids and musical instruments for impoverished schools. Therefore, ICSO has donated a large number of musical instruments and music teaching materials to ensure that every child has the opportunity to play an instrument and learn music theory, so as to broaden the children’s musical horizons. In addition, we provide music teacher training to schools in impoverished areas to ensure the quality of teaching in the music classroom. On top of that, our volunteers personally travel to poor areas to teach. They not only share their musical skills and teach the children about music, but also encourage them to open their hearts and express their emotions and creativity through music.
03 Vision and Mission
ICSO is committed to enabling every child to have a wider musical world. Through the “Music for Dreams” program, we help children in underprivileged areas to open the door to music, inspire their potential and pursue their musical dreams. However, ICSO’s mission is far from over, we will continue to pass on the benefits of music education to more places, so that more children can enjoy the beauty of music.
