In impoverished mountainous areas, education is like a bright lighthouse, showing children the way forward. A quality classroom is like a helmsman, guiding them through the fog of knowledge, across the difficulties of life, and stabilizing their direction in the surging tide. These classrooms not only fill their hearts with a thirst for knowledge, but also nurture resilience and courage within them. As former U.S. President John F. Kennedy said, “Education not only lights fires, it illuminates lives.” These children of the mountains are like the hope of the future, and need to be carefully cared for and nourished. Education is the most precious gift given to them, and quality classrooms light up the future of children in poor mountainous areas, helping them grow up and lay a solid foundation for the future of society.
01 Project Background
ICSO launched the “One Classroom, One Love” project in 2018, aiming to improve the educational opportunities for children in poor areas and cut the vicious cycle of intergenerational poverty transfer, creating opportunities for every child to pursue a colorful life. Relying on volunteers from outstanding universities at home and abroad, the program is committed to correcting the imbalance in the distribution of educational resources within the region by reaching out to the villages and impoverished areas to understand the children’s academic needs, and at the same time, providing intellectual support education to cultivate their diversified skills and ensure that they are able to seize the opportunities of the future. This program has far-reaching implications for the overall development of society and the alleviation of inequality.
02 Project Content
The “One Lesson, One Love” program uses international students to teach in rural areas to bring diverse and high-quality education to local students. In this program, the teaching team consists of carefully selected volunteers from prestigious universities at home and abroad, including volunteers from Cambridge University, Sheffield University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. They will travel to schools in remote mountainous areas during the winter and summer breaks, bringing with them colorful outreach programs that broaden their horizons and lay a solid foundation for future development. The program raises funds through crowdfunding, corporate sponsorship and individual donations. So far, more than 3 million RMB has been raised, covering more than 1,000 rural students, providing them with a wider range of educational resources and helping them pursue a brighter future.

ICSO carries a noble vision and aspires to ignite the light of education in the eyes of every child in the world, opening the door to success for them, regardless of borders and backgrounds, as long as they harbor the desire to learn, they will find the door to success open for them. Through the international students’ teaching in the countryside, we pass the torch of wisdom to the remote mountainous areas. ICSO believes that every transfer of knowledge is a spiritual journey, and every selfless love is an opportunity to reshape the future, helping them pursue excellence and break the shackles of intergenerational poverty!
