Since its inception in 2017, ICSO has adhered to its core vision of uniting the enthusiasm and strength of Chinese students around the world to promote global philanthropy. Over the years, ICSO has worked tirelessly to operate more than 150 charity projects, benefiting from the active participation of more than 5,000 overseas student volunteers, and raising more than US$2 million, making ICSO the world’s largest charity organization for Chinese students.
While ICSO’s many aid programs have brought hope to more and more impoverished areas and helped children receive an education, years of practice in mountainous areas have raised new concerns, and ICSO has come to realize that many children in impoverished mountainous areas are also in need of nutritional assistance.
01 Background
We are in an era of opportunity and hope, however, it is deeply saddening that there are still thousands of children living under the shadow of poverty, suffering from hunger and limited educational resources. It is against this background that in November 2018, ICSO (China) officially launched the “One Carton of Milk, One Heart” project.
02 Project Content
The “One Box of Milk, One Kind Heart” program is dedicated to improving the physical quality of children from poor families, and donating milk to add nutrition to the breakfast of poor students. A box of milk represents the warmth of life, while a kind heart carries ICSO’s deep concern for children in poor areas.
03 Program Development
Since 2020, ICSO has launched a long-term nutritional assistance for rural elementary school. Under the call of “one box of milk, one heart”, ICSO purchased a large amount of nutritious milk and transported it to elementary school in poor areas. Today, the program has donated more than 4 million RMB to improve the children’s lives. In addition, volunteers visit the campuses, conduct site visits and interview students to ensure that the milk and care resources are accurately delivered to the impoverished areas. Many impoverished families have thus received practical assistance and felt the warmth of society.
Conclusion
The “One Carton of Milk, One Kind Heart” program brings together the most selfless human feelings. It reminds us that even in this busy world, every action and every decision can create good opportunities for countless children and help them move towards a brighter future.
