02 Practicing the Spirit of Volunteering with Actions
He became involved with ICSO through the “Carrying the Light” charity project organized in the United States in July 2019. Faced with the growing number of homeless and impoverished people, he eagerly signed up to become a volunteer. After joining, he participated in volunteer services for three consecutive months. He proactively took on the task of collecting information on impoverished groups in the U.S. who could not receive government assistance, organizing documents and materials. He demonstrated a high sense of responsibility and teamwork in his volunteer work.
After the Christmas holidays, he took the initiative to oversee logistical preparations, ensuring smooth operations for the welcoming volunteer services. He was responsible for purchasing materials, distributing them to various locations, handing out welcome manuals, and checking ICSO volunteer vests. He also coordinated missing supplies for different locations. During meal times on the welcoming days, he was always the first to begin work—packing meal boxes, checking the numbers, and delivering meals to all points. Yet, he was the last one to stop and rest. Only when all the meals were delivered did he sit down to enjoy his own meal, which was perhaps already cold by then.
Taking care of the logistical support for volunteer services and ensuring solid backing for various volunteer activities had long become his unshakeable duty and responsibility.
03 Honor as a Volunteer
In the past five years, he has organized and participated in nearly 50 volunteer services, covering five communities, one university, and a special education primary school. He accumulated 393.5 hours of volunteer service, earning the ICSO Youth Three-Star Volunteer recognition, benefiting over a thousand individuals.
He gave his all with boundless enthusiasm, delivering a satisfactory answer to the volunteer challenge. Since then, his bond with ICSO’s international volunteer services has grown stronger, and he was awarded the ICSO Honorary Volunteer Service Certificate.
