Recently, the International Public Welfare Support Organization (ICSO), in collaboration with volunteers from Shenzhen Polytechnic, has been preparing to launch a public welfare teaching project — “Leiyang Volunteer Teaching & Handmade Crafts for Love.”
A volunteer team composed of ICSO’s China division, counselors from Shenzhen Polytechnic, and students will travel together to Leiyang, Hunan Province, to bring a cultural feast to local children.
01 Project Background
With the acceleration of urbanization, a growing number of migrant workers have moved into cities, leaving their children behind in rural areas due to limitations in household registration and educational resources.
These “left-behind” children often face emotional challenges such as low self-esteem, depression, loneliness, lack of support, and material deprivation.
Handicrafts, as a creative and educational activity, play a vital role in cultivating these children’s practical skills, innovative thinking, and cultural identity.
02 Project Content
During the implementation of this public welfare project, children will participate in a variety of specialized courses.
Focusing on handicraft activities, the project provides left-behind children with a colorful and enriching learning platform.
Through participation in handmade crafts, children can experience emotional healing and holistic development.
The initiative combines psychological support with creative activities like bracelet-making, leaving lasting memories and further advancing educational philanthropy.
The volunteer team aims to promote advanced culture, offer talent support, and precisely enhance the quality of education for students in impoverished areas through cultural teaching, social research, and volunteer services.
03 Project Goals
This volunteer teaching initiative seeks to achieve multiple objectives through handicraft-based education:

Education is a long-term and systematic process that cannot be accomplished overnight.
