The ocean is the source of all life, covering the majority of Earth’s surface. It is not only the largest ecosystem on the planet but also a key component in maintaining global ecological balance. However, with the continual increase in human activities, the ocean is under tremendous pressure. Issues such as overfishing, pollution, and plastic waste are seriously threatening the stability of marine ecosystems.
Protecting the ocean is not only about preserving the Earth’s ecological balance—it is also essential for securing the survival and future of humanity. Each of us has a responsibility to adopt sustainable lifestyles, reduce our negative impact on the ocean, and work together to safeguard this life source. To ensure the sustainable development of our oceans and benefit both humanity and the planet, ICSO·UK has proactively launched the “Azure Heart” initiative. This project calls on more people to take action in marine conservation and protect our shared home.
01 Project Overview
The “Azure Heart” project is a public welfare initiative for nature conservation launched by ICSO·UK in 2019. In collaboration with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS), ICSO·UK has conducted multiple marine conservation actions under this project. These include cleaning up ocean debris, collecting pollution data, and providing education and public courses on marine protection.
To date, the project has completed six phases, mobilizing more than 2,000 volunteers and covering over 30 marine areas.
02 Project Achievements
Since its launch in 2019, the Azure Heart project has successfully implemented six editions and has worked closely with many universities across the UK. Through this process, ICSO has mobilized the participation of more than 2,000 dedicated volunteers, all committed to advancing the cause of marine conservation.
With effective organization and coordination, the project has raised over 2 million US dollars in donations. These funds will continue to support ongoing efforts. Our work spans more than 30 marine regions, creating a positive and far-reaching impact on global marine protection. This marks significant progress for the Azure Heart project in promoting marine conservation and contributes meaningfully to the health of our ocean ecosystems.
